Dr Phil Bourque has been actively involved in dairy, beef and feedlot veterinary practice since 1985. Phil has a BSA in Animal Science (’77), a DVM (’82) and a Masters of Veterinary Science (MVS ’85) from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. His area of expertise is in Dairy Herd management and nutrition. He enjoys working with dairy producers to help them meet their goals and has a keen interest in dairy nutrition. He currently oversees the nutrition programs on a number of dairy farms in the local area.

Leland Fuhr was raised on his family’s dairy farm near Langenburg, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he was awarded a BSA and MSc from the Department of Animal and Poultry Science. Leland’s area of specialization is in Ruminant Nutrition. Since the completion of his MSc in 2006, he has been working in the Saskatchewan dairy industry as a nutrition consultant. His long-term goals are to have a positive impact on the profitability of the Saskatchewan Dairy Farmer and the wellbeing of Dairy Cattle.

Steve Brandsma grew up in Matsqui prairie spending a lot of time on his uncle’s dairy farm. In 1994 he graduated from Dordt College, Iowa with a double major in plant and animal science. Following his graduation, Steve returned to the Fraser Valley where he began his career in the feed industry. He understands first-hand the challenges of being a farmer – he owns a chicken farm where he raises broiler breeder pullets. He is always looking for innovative ways to help farmers be more profitable whether it be through feeding by-products or commodities.

Brian Janzen grew up on his family’s dairy and poultry farm in Chillwack, B.C. He has a BSc in biology from UFV and PAS certification specializing in dairy cattle from ARPAS. Since graduating, Brian has been working in the dairy feed industry and is pleased to be representing Dairy Smart Nutrition in B.C. He is passionate about agriculture, in particular dairy farming, with a keen interest in helping farmers become more profitable.

Matthew bio pic final

Matthew Walpole grew up in rural southwestern Ontario, always having an interest in the dairy production industry. He attended the University of Guelph where he attained a BSc (2009) and MSc (2010) from the Department of Animal and Poultry Science. During his time there he represented the University of Guelph at the Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge, and taught introductory dairy nutrition to undergraduate students. He then moved west to the Department of Animal Science at the University of Saskatchewan, where he is currently working towards his PhD focussing on protein nutrition in dairy cattle. He enjoys working with producers to maintain profitability while increasing production and environmental efficiencies.

Cole Molag grew up on the Sumas prairie working for family and neighboring farmers. Graduating with a BSc in Biology from the University of the Fraser Valley, Cole worked for a Farm and Feed Store while completing his post-secondary education where he enjoyed helping customers find products that fit their needs while delivering excellent service. Cole is excited to work with DairySmart Nutrition where he gets to use his education and is encouraged to provide quality service to maximize efficiency and profitability of dairy operations.
